ETHICS ON ANIMAL EXPERIMENTATION

On July 8, 1998 we received an anonymous phone call from one of the dental faculty members from the city public University. Professor Fernando Zuna took it upon himself to kill all kind of animals for biological studies on tissues in a cruel and brutal manor. Even though the students were indignant with this kind of practice, it continued for one month. Because of the anonymous call we went to the university with a channel 4 we interrupted one of his classes and made it become public. We then sent a letter to the Dean of the University, this was the first case of many that showed the abusive practice against animals.
This does not only happen in public universities but also in private medical and veterinarian schools. Our organization has agreements with two important universities in our city that their objectives are, to make rules so that these practices will have a basis in which they will stay within international boundaries:

• Reduce to a minimum the quantity of animals used.
• To replace live animals with other alternatives

The agreements allows us to investigate these kind of cases at any given moment, all though this might be a hard task until there are not laws with will protect animals from this kind of cruelty we can not turn our back on them.
