CONTAMINATION OR LIBERATIONS?

During each year of existence of the Community Inti Wara Yassi, "Nena" and Juan Carlos worked without any technique and professional recommendation, small animals such as parrots, monkeys, badgers, turtles and others were released within the Park Machia and other surrounding areas. This led many critics and fervent opposition to this project by professional biologist, the big wild animals (jaguars, pumas) were humanized, it was common to see them being collared and ropes, taking a “walk” by foreign volunteers as if they were dogs.

The release of animals (freedom) when there is not scientific technique (liberate involves a high cost per animal), can bring the opposite of what is being sought, that is the animal welfare.
These actions brings the death of the animal released into the hands of a savage animal, bring the massive animals death (in some cases) of the same species that can be infected by the animal released and brings accidents against which humans can live near areas where these animals are released irresponsibly.

According to the 2006 Management Plan submitted by the Community Inti Wara Yassi to the General Direction of Biodiversity (DGB) the 80% of the animals that they have within the Machia Park and Ambue Ari are free. These releases were made without any scientific and technical process that eventually damage caused can be devastating.
