Cruelty and Abuse Cases

We constantly answer calls that neighbors make to report physical and psychological abuse and cruelty: chained dogs, animals without adequate living space,dogs that are made to wander the streets looking for food even if they have owners, animals that are beaten, hung, drowned, stabbed, cut, mutilated, and even burned.

For our intervention and for the seizure of animals we are backed up by the Municipal Legal Code 14/95, for the city of La Paz.

Currently Animales S.O.S is lobbying to pass a national law for the protection of animal rights. The project for the law is currently being worked on in the Senate.

Case 1:
June 1996. This animal is an example of what happens in many parts of the city, where neglect is the cause of serious acts of cruelty. This male Doberman was kept chained in an empty lot without any food. According to the neighbors, his owners would only come on weekends and give him a bucket of water without any food. His situation was critical when we rescued him, his digestive system was so weak that he could not assimilate any food. In spite all our efforts to save him, he died in a new home surrounded by people that loved him.




Case 2:
This cat was abandoned in front of a public building afterrr being terribly tortured, three of its paws were mumified, had a deep cut in its front right leg in advanced stages of decomposition,it also had an anal haemorrhage it was totaly mal nutritioned and dehyrated.

Fisically this animal could have never have arrived to this location in its present state. These mentally ill and criminal act should be punished.











Case 3:
February 1999. Ignorance can also lead to cruelty. A woman and her daughter who say they care for their animal, let this wound on its leg without any veterinary care for more than a month, causing the tissue to wither away on the whole leg spread the infection all over the body.
