World Society for the Protection of Animals In Bolivia
2010.
When natural disasters strike, the animals are also victims and are often ignored, so the WSPA has developed a specific area to assist these victims.
The drought currently affecting large regions of our country has been more severe in the Chaco, in the department of Santa Cruz. In July this year, the WSPA came to Bolivia to make an assessment and they returned in September to consolidate its support through a grant of approximately $ 20,000.- (twenty thousand dollars) which will result in an allocation of 80,000 gallons of water a day designated to the provinces of Charagua, Cuevo and Boyuibe for a period of two months.
The distribution of this water is free, is for the exclusive use of animals and is intended for poor farmers with less than 200 head of cattle. We appreciate the assistance of departmental COE especially Guillermo Saucedo and Antonio Miranda for providing the inspection and coordination to make this donation becomes effective.
On the name of the thousands of slaughtered animals, thanks again to the WSPA. This is not the first time this organization has to Bolivia to help animal victims of natural disasters; they aid us also in the earthquake of Aiquile and Totora (1997); in the hailstorm that occurred in the city of La Paz in 2002; in the snowfall affected the Department of Potosí (2002) and in the flooding in Trinidad (2007) and in Trinidad Santa Cruz and Cochabamba (2008).
