Road to Liberty
2009 -2010. La Paz - Bolivia
The first days of August, 2009 a representative of the Circus Abuhadba called Animals S.O.S. to donate five (5) lions and one (1) Papion Monkey. The first time we saw these monkeys was in Warnes, Santa Cruz on August 12 and after eight days of meetings we finally could sign the papers in the city of Bermejo, Tarija.
On August 20, 2009, Mr. Salvador Simón Abuhadba Valencia owner of the circus Abuhadba and also owner of the lions and the papion monkey passed these animals in donation to our organization without no force and only thinking in the wellbeing of these animals.
A few days before we signed the documents so the animals could pass officially to us, we contacted ADI (Animal Defenders International, an organization that works for the past 20 years al around the world collecting evidence (pictures and videos) about animal cruelty in circuses. ADI has used these images to show people and legislators in different countries the true under the big ‘’TENT’’ and thanks to all this they have found support from organizations defending animals all over the world and reach laws that prohibit the use if animals in circuses.
ADI support was decisive to approve Law # 4040 in Bolivia that prohibits the use of domestic and wild animals in circuses; this law has put Bolivia ahead in the care for these type of animals.
Animal Defenders International has agreed since the beginning to pay for all the expenses of temporary shelter, food and any other requirements before and during the animal’s trip to sanctuary property of PAWS (The Performing Animal Welfare Society) in California, United States. |
